AEIDL, the European Association for Information on Local Development, was founded in 1988 by like-minded individuals who believed that European integration could make a positive contribution to citizenship and to the sustainable development of local communities.

From LEADER to FARNET, AEIDL has proven expertise in the successful application of the territorial approach to development - an approach based on a permanent dialogue with and between local stakeholders and the potential beneficiaries of the various projects, and enriched by exchanges within wider networks, which encompass the local, regional, national and European levels.

Established in the context of ELISE, the European network for the exchange of information on local employment, AEIDL is regularly involved in programmes, projects or missions involving, either directly or indirectly, employment, social economy, social innovation, start-ups, socio-occupational integration, migration issues, equal opportunities and citizenship.

Environment

While the goal of sustainable development and respect for the environment had been a horizontal dimension of the local development projects AEIDL has been engaged in for over ten years, it was the coordination of the EU’s LIFE programme, which - from the early 2000s – led to the environmental aspect of sustainable development becoming one of AEIDL’s main fields of activity.

What rural people want

ELARD

(01 October 2020) - “Which future do you want in rural areas?” - From May to August 2020, 3 436 people from 26 different countries answered the survey carried out by ELARD, the European association of LEADER groups, in cooperation with REDR, the Spanish rural development network. The results have just been published.
