(21 February 2014) - More than 150 people – grassroots practitioners, MEPs, academics, representatives of organisations and networks, and simply ‘ordinary’ citizens – participated in the conference, ‘Reinventing Europe through Local Initiative’ in Brussels on 19-20 February by the European Association for Information on Local Development (AEIDL) on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. Presentations, discussions and networking focused on 25 ‘promising initiatives’, which have shown that local, citizen-led and participative initiatives for sustainable development are needed more than ever.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, AEIDL organises in Brussels, on 19-20 February 2014, a major conference entitled "Reinventing Europe through Local Initiative". (15 November 2013) - AEIDL has published a short briefing note on Community-Led Local Development (CLLD), which explains how local groups wishing to promote a sustainable development project or initiative could benefit from this new EU funding instrument. (15 November 2013) - The first European Rural Parliament (ERP) met in Brussels on 13 November. The ERP aims to provide a forum for exchange of ideas and experience between national rural movements and networks. Jean-Pierre Pellegrin, a member of AEIDL and a partner of the Sisteronnais-Buëch Local Action Group (Provence, France), attended the meeting and wrote a short report.
