LIFE Environment Senior Expert.
Gabriella is the Senior Environment Expert of the LIFE communications team at AEIDL with the overall responsibility to identify, analyse and disseminate successful LIFE Environment project results. Other tasks include identifying opportunities to bring projects and other stakeholders together, organising thematic events and facilitating ongoing LIFE projects’ networking. Gabriella is also the technical coordinator for all the Environment LIFE Focus brochures. Furthermore, Gabriella selects the best LIFE project case studies to illustrate the environmental themes addressed by publications and she is responsible for researching, writing and providing an overview of EU policy in the respective areas.
Gabriella started her career at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei as a researcher, working on projects on Sustainable Tourism, beach management and Integrated Coastal Zone Management, collaborating with the University of Genova. She moved on to become freelance Environment expert and Project Manager collaborating with various companies where she produced feasibility studies concerning various environmental topics (CAPLE and Carl Bro Intl) and participated in FP6 funded projects on Fisheries and Aquaculture (invasive alien species, disease prevention, genetic mutations) and helped in preparing an assessment of the social and environmental impact of EU FIFG 2000-2006 administration in Italy.
Before joining the AEIDL team in April 2009, she was working as a Senior Consultant for the CORDIS project on the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technical Development. She had previously completed an internship at the Commission’s DG-Environment.
Gabriella has a degree in International and European Law (her thesis focused on “Organic farming and GMOs: the precautionary principle versus risk assessment”) and a Master’s degree in “Environmental Management and Control. She speaks Italian, English (mother tongue), French and Greek (basic).
