Richard Freeman

Research officer

Richard joined the FARNET Support Unit as a Research Officer in April 2018. He is a social scientist with experience in both quantitative and qualitative research projects, data analysis and sampling. He is providing the team with assistance in research methodologies and is forming closer connections between the technical work conducted by FARNET and that of its associated scientific and academic communities. Richard is an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded PhD Candidate at Newcastle University where he is researching supply chains in fisheries, the marketing of fisheries products and consumer behaviours in the sector. He is also part of the UK team working on the Horizon 2020 ‘Strenth2Food’ project which assesses the impacts, exchanges knowledge, and informs policy making on sustainable food chains. Richard holds an MSc in International Marketing and is from a communications background. As such, he also assists in the FARNET Support Unit’s communication activities and strategy. He is an English native speaker and has a beginner’s knowledge of French.
