Raphael is a journalist specialised in a wide range of issues, from global politics and human rights to tech, migration, and development. He holds a BA in international relations, an MA in communication and a PhD in human rights with a focus on political communication, diaspora/migration, and internet studies.
He has over a decade of experience as a freelance journalist writing for major international outlets such as The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, Wired, MIT Tech Review, The Globe and Mail, BBC, DW, etc, and has worked as a communication specialist for Eurocities where he was in charge of the communication (internal and external) of several EU-funded projects and thematic areas, mainly on environment, migration and digital/tech.
HE joined AEIDL in 2023 and he manages the communication of different Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects such as Tools4CAP, MOVING, GRANULAR, CODECS, etc.
He speaks Portuguese (native language), Spanish and English and has also knowledge of Catalan, Italian, Dutch and Basque.
