(07 September 2015) – More than 75% of citizens have a positive opinion about EU Regional policy projects, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey.

Awareness of EU Regional policy projects remains stable (compared to 2013) at about a third of the European Union’s population. Of these respondents, more than ¾ have a positive perception of the policy, in some countries (including the Baltic states, Ireland and Poland) more than 90%.

Three out of ten of those who thought the impact of the EU funded project was negative thought that funding was allocated to the wrong project, or that projects were not implemented as expected.

Television (54%), followed by newspapers (45%), and the internet (31%) are the primary sources of information about EU Regional policy (multiple answers were possible) but the situation varies greatly between EU Member States.

More than 50% of respondents in the Czech Republic and Poland said they had personally benefited from an EU Regional project. The biggest increase in this area was noted in Bulgaria.
