(26 June 2015) – Within the framework of the DevNet EEIG, established in partnership with Grupo Alba (Spain), AEIDL will continue to participate in the Support Unit for FARNET, the European Fisheries Areas Network.
The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) has contracted DevNet for managing the FARNET Support Unit during the 2014-2020 period.
The aim of the FARNET Support Unit is to animate the network and provide technical assistance to “Fisheries Local Action Groups” (FLAGs). FLAGs are strategic partnerships supporting development and diversification projects in areas such as exploiting local fishery products, tourism, the environment, education and culture.
DevNET was already responsible for the coordination of the FARNET Support Unit between May 2009 and May 2015. The first FARNET network gathered 312 FLAGs across 21 EU Member States.
The new contract will represent 4 FTEs for AEIDL.
