(28 September 2021) – AEIDL is pleased to invite you to the AEIDL Talks with Blanca Casares on “Women in rural areas” scheduled on 5 October from 2pm to 3pm CET.

Women are vital for the sustainable development of rural areas, bringing added value to local communities. They are frequently the driving force behind innovation, diversification, and the development of new opportunities. In short, women give life to rural areas.
In this AEIDL Talks, Blanca Casares will discuss the challenges faced by women in rural areas and their predefined roles. She will reflect on the many roles women have in rural communities and their broad capacity for innovation, bringing forward the voice of some rural women.
Blanca Casares holds a degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master’s degree in Territorial Rural Development. Blanca started her career in 2011 at the Spanish Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine. Her expertise includes territorial and rural development, agriculture, cultural landscapes and food systems.
She has experience in women-led projects in rural areas, specifically, in relation to the Dehesa ecosystem, shepherdesses and extensive livestock farming. From 2017-2020 she has been an active member of the Women Land Rights working group of the International Land Coalition.
