AEIDL vows to develop actionable EU policy recommendations for urban-rural synergies as the RURBANIVE project starts

Mar 12, 2024 | News

Another month and another project that is launched where AEIDL will play a key role in bringing brilliant evidence from the ground and experts into proposals that can turn into better EU policies for rural areas.  The RURBANIVE project had its Kick Off Meeting in Athens on 15-16 February

The RURBANIVE Project will develop 6 Rural/Urban Enablers (RUEs), innovations in six domains favouring bi-directional rural/urban synergies and a well-being economy. A digital space, the “Community Store”, the prominent result of RURBANIVE, will integrate the RUEs along with the “Community of Practice Suite” of policies, facilitating rural/ urban communities to create strong synergies.7 partners from 8 countries have come together in Athens – Greece, under the coordination of ICCS, to make this ambitious EU-funded project a reality.

AEIDL is responsible for the Work Package on EU Policy Development and Recommendations – Synergies, policies, and governance to influence and be influenced by the EU and UN agendas on urban-rural synergies, integrated territorial policies, and place-based approaches.

Our colleagues Serafin Pazos Vidal (project director for AEIDL) and Janne Sinerma (AEIDL Project Manager for RURBANIVE) presented our plans to ensure that the good evidence that will emerge from this project is able to influence the post-2027 EU programmes negotiations that will start little over a year after the start of the project.
