Citizens and the EU’s communication

Nov 19, 2014 | News

(19 November 2014) – After a previous analysis on how citizens see the European Union, Notre Europe-Jacques Delors Institute published a second synthesis on the first stage of the project “Horizon EU”. This new synthesis addresses the perception that citizens have on how the EU communicates.

This synthesis is based on the group discussions organised in 18 countries of the European Union, in the framework of the project “Horizon EU: European citizenship, a horizontal development” which collected the opinion of 157 citizens on EU communication with them.

Four issues were addressed in this synthesis:

  • How do citizens express their views regarding the EU?
  • What obstacles stand in the way of citizen expression?
  • How do citizens obtain information about the EU?
  • Do citizens feel well-informed?
