The proposal will cover both online and offline advertising and will complement the rules set out in the Commission’s proposal for a legislative act on digital services, with the aim of having specific rules in place sufficiently in advance for the European Parliament elections in May 2024.

The public consultation seeks input from a wide range of stakeholders, including the general public, academics, industry, NGOs, media, public authorities and political parties.

Those wishing to participate in the public consultation can fill in a questionnaire which will be available online until 2 April 2021.
