(14 May 2020) – In time of crisis, ‘the fear of the Other’ becomes again a common part of public debate. The EPIC project held its first webinar on migration narratives on 28 April.
According to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), hate speech is increasing year on year since 2017, but still there is a high lack of reporting of the issue due to the problems of defining it in a clear way that allows victims and relevant actors to identify and take action against it.
With the objective of bringing clarity to this problem, the EPIC project – European Platform of Integrating Cities – hosted its first of a series of webinar on migration narratives last Tuesday, 28th of April.
While all the panellists highlighted there is no magic formula to solve the problem at once, they showed that an action plan involving a comprehensive multi-stakeholder approach can have a big impact in tackling this issue.
