(14 December 2020) – Numerous political agreements between the European institutions, the European Parliament and the Council have been reached in recent days, notably on Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and the Just Transition Fund.
The Just Transition Fund is a new instrument with an overall budget of €17.5 billion, of which €7.5 billion are coming from the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and €10 billion from the NextGenerationEU.
On 10 December, the Commission welcomed the political agreement on Horizon Europe, the largest transnational programme ever supporting research and innovation. It will have a budget of around €95.5 billion for 2021-2027.
The Commission has also welcomed the political agreement on the new Erasmus+ Programme (2021 2027). The programme has a dedicated budget of €24.5 billion in current prices and an additional top-up of €1.7 billion in 2018 prices.
On 11 December, another political agreement was reached on the new European Solidarity Corps (2021 2027) and on the Cybersecurity Competence Centre and Network, an initiative that aims to improve and strengthen technology and industrial cybersecurity capacities.
