Rhône-Alpes awarded “Local Self-Government Prize” at Krynica Economic Forum

(08 September 2014) – The Rhône-Alpes Region was awarded the “Local Self-Government Prize” for its energy transition innovative policies.

This prize, established four years ago, is awarded jointly by the Polish national daily Rzeczpospolitia and the Institute of Eastern Studies (organiser of the Forum) to reward innovative local actions.

Created after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Economic Forum is the most important economic conference in Central and Eastern Europe, gathering presidents, heads of cabinets, ministers, EU Commissioners, representatives of big corporations and policy research institutes.

Jean-Jack Queyranne, the President of the Rhône-Alpes Region, attended the 24th edition of the Economic Forum in Krynica, Poland, at the invitation of Marek Sowa, Marshal of the Lesser Poland, with which Rhône-Alpes maintains privileged relations as part of a cooperation programme existing since 2001 in the field of vocational training, agriculture, university studies and culture.

Based in Krakow, Entreprise Rhône-Alpes International (ERAI), the Region’s economic development agency at international level, has supported 150 companies from Rhône-Alpes in Central Europe.
