Social Policy Expert / Project Manager  – Job Ad

AEIDL, the European Association for Innovation in Local Development, is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Social Policy Expert/Project Manager with experience in managing and delivering projects. The expert will undertake the role of Deputy Project Manager for service contracts on Socially Responsible Public Procurement and Sustainable Procurement, as well as managing a social inclusion Horizon Europe project, SERIGO. 

The service contracts on Socially Responsible Public Procurement (SRPP) and Sustainable Procurement aim at increasing the capacity of public buyers and stakeholders and raise awareness on SRPP and sustainable procurement. SERIGO aims to enhance social inclusion in rural areas, with a focus on people in a vulnerable situation in the context of the social economy. 

The post is an open-ended full-time employment contract, with the option of freelancing. Candidates should be able to start working in October 2023. 

Role and responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will manage and coordinate, alongside other members of the projects team, the delivery of the contracts as well as coordinating the staff working on those contracts. The successful candidate will be expected to:  

  • Implement the overall planning and coordination of the projects 
  • Ensure the high quality of deliverables and tasks 
  • Ensure timely delivery of tasks and deliverables 
  • Coordinate project teams 
  • Conceptualise, plan, organise, deliver and ensure the follow-up of capacity building and training events on SRPP and sustainable procurement; providing content input to communications activities including social media posts on SRPP and sustainable procurement; researching and developing good practice case studies on SRPP.   
  • Assist, where required, in business development, contributing to bids and proposals in the area of social and employment policies, including the social economy. 
  • Contribute where required to other AEIDL activities, such as our European Local Innovation Forum 

Qualifications and experience :

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience 
  • Proven project management experience on EU projects, including in service contracts (minimum 3 years) 
  • Experience of working with EU clients 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an expert in EU social and employment policies  
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement for policy improvement   
  • Excellent ability in teamwork and working with partners 
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills  
  • Postgraduate degree in EU law, EU affairs, political science, social sciences, or economics 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the social economy  
  • Knowledge of socially responsible public procurement  
  • Knowledge of other European languages 
  • Experience in the organisation, implementation and follow-up of events, including online  
  • Experience in the facilitation of working groups and Communities of practices 
  • Excellent skills in research and writing 
  • Certificate in project management
