We are very saddened by Fintan Farrell’s sudden passing and would like to express our deepest condolences and warmest sympathy to his family and friends.
We had the privilege to work with Fintan in the context of the ESF Transnational Platform and on other occasions. He was a very passionate man, who dedicated his entire life and career to the fight against poverty and social exclusion, always paying attention to the most vulnerable. He gave an enormous contribution in showing how the European Social Fund (ESF) can be used to combat homelessness, to implement active inclusion strategies based on access to services and integration into sustainable and quality employment, as well as to promote the shift from institutional care to community-based and user-centered services. We also worked together to promote a meaningful engagement of the stakeholders that need to have a say and contribute with their expertise in the implementation of social inclusion policies by the means of the ESF.
We will remember him as a very knowledgeable expert and a very nice and approachable person. We will do our best to continue his legacy in combating poverty and social exclusion in the EU. His spirit will stay with us. Thank you Fintan!
